The 1st Philippine Bike Demo Day
The organizers of the 1st Philippine Bike Demo Day (Dirt Edition) are no strangers to the Philippine mountain biking (MTB) scene. As the moving force behind the de-facto leading forum for MTB, www.pinoymtbiker.org, Arnel Andal and Edmund Ang have a good pulse of the community. Online discussions revolve around the actual rides, experiences, and impressions of different mountain bikes and how they perform and handle. The 1st Philippine Bike Demo Day was an opportunity to take these virtual conversations out of cyberspace and transform them into real world experiences. There was all out support to make this event a success.
On March 13, 2016, the MTB community came out in full force to Heroes Trail in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City to test the latest bikes the participating brands had available: hardtail, full-suspension, cross-country, downhill, Enduro, and fat bikes were not just on display, but were on the trail being tested by newbies and enthusiasts alike. It was an ideal set-up where curious riders could get their questions answered by the brands and experts available, and get a feel for the bikes once they got in the saddle. The festive atmosphere was interspersed with clinics led by personalities in the Philippine MTB scene who shared their tips and interacted with enthusiasts on topics such as riding skills to and how to improve in specific MTB disciplines.
Team BMC was one of the experts onsite at Philippine Bicycle Demo Day: EJ Flores, Gica Limjoco, Ahleem Zape, Angelo Iballa, Jevis Aguila, Alvin Benosa, Mervin Santiago. Also present in the event were Ariana and Donjie Dormitorio, Ryan Solinap of Enduro DH, Ricky Montelibano (one of the founders of Philippine DH), and Stephen Domingo (president, Pinoy Cyclocross).
Following the success of this 1st Philippine Bike Demo Day, the organising team will feature road and commuter bikes in another event that’s in the works. We’re looking forward to it.
